Celebrating Central American Women in Diaspora: Testimonios of the Generations
Event box
More than seven million Central Americans reside in the United States today, yet our stories and contributions continue to be undertold. In 2019, Teaching for Change launched the campaign Teach Central America Week, during the first full week of October to provide educators with resources they can use that highlight the rich histories of Central Americans both in the isthmus and the United States. Keeping this tradition, CAHAAS and the UCI History Project is collaborating with the Latin American Studies Program at CSULA to host our 3rd annual Teach Central America week event.
This year, we want to celebrate the editors and authors of Central American Women in Diaspora, an anthology project which focuses on the testimonios of diverse women from the Central American diasporas. Join us on Thursday October 8th from 6-8pm to convivir, be in community, and learn from some of the authors, artists, and poets who contributed to this labor of love.
